Effect of mineral and organic fertilizers on some soil chemical and biological properties in a 90-year-old long-term experiment

The Westsik’s long-term crop rotation experiment was set up in 1929 at the Nyíregyháza Experimental Station (NE Hungary) on a slightly acidic Arenosol. Besides fallow (CR), effects of different organic amendments (lupine as green manure, lupine main crop, straw and farmyard manure (FYM) were studied with or without N NPK-fertilizers. consisted rye, potato, lupine, oat common vetch. soil potato plots analysed 2019 90th anniversary experiment. following chemical microbiological parameters determined: pH, available nutrient contents, carbon (OC) nitrogen (ON) microbial biomass (MBC) (MBN), respiration, net nitrification, activity some enzymes. In CRs, pH H2O varied from to weakly alkaline it largely differed KCl . results showed significant increase content nitrate, phosphorus potassium most fertilized plots. Applying straw, FYM significantly increased OC ON contents. total count cultivable bacteria upon application manures. Combined N-fertilization heavily improved abundance microscopic fungi. While all applied manures enhanced MBC, MBN only by amendment. Our revealed higher respiration rate receiving than control. Both elevated nitrification rate. Phosphatase, saccharase, urease, dehydrogenase enzymes hesitating response CRs. correlated measured parameters. Among properties, MBC MBN, well other enzyme activities displayed positive correlation. Results proved need for exogenous matter form enhance nutritional status health soil.
